  • The transparency and public availability of broadband network data
  • Involvement from the research community in overseeing the use of open-source broadband analytics data and innovation of new measurement methodologies
  • The provision of funding available to all communities to undergo a broadband mapping effort, contingent on the use of open-source tools, methodologies and data transparency

To raise awareness of:

  • The importance of open-source broadband network data tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • The availability of open-source mapping tools
  • Successful community-led mapping efforts
  • The impact of verifiable mapping on equity efforts
  • The uneven distribution of broadband access and adoption

To educate on:

  • What mapping is and why it is important
  • How  data collection, measurement and mapping methodologies work 
  • How to use mapping and data analysis tools

To create: 

  • A curated repository of open-source broadband mapping tools
  • A data trust of open public data related to mapping
  • A talent pipeline to generate more expertise in the use and analysis of broadband data in mapping initiatives 
  • Opportunities for the development of standards and best practices for the visualization and analysis of broadband performance and availability
